Mrs. Wilson's Room Updates:
Miss Kuntz, our student teacher from MSU-B is doing a stellar job in our classroom. She has taken over morning duties, and will move to math as well this week. If you have any questions about this process, please ask! I am so excited to have her in our room and watch her grow as an educator.
Also, we will have a Valentine's Day party on Feb. 12 from 10:30-11:45. It is a half day that day. See details to the right.
This Week's Objectives:
Reading:
Week 4 is a review week, so we will be reviewing the skills learned in Unit 4, Science and Weather
Theme Question: How do seasons and weather affect our lives?
Focus Question: How do we measure and predict the weather?
Inquiry Question: How do animals change and adapt to survive the winter?
Skills: analogies, ed/ing endings, antonyms, compare and contrast using graphic organizers
Math:
Double Digit addition and subtraction strategies: This week we will focus on "building to the next ten" and "using a 100's chart to add multiples of ten". I strongly encourage you check out Becky Berg's (our district's math coach) to see some of these strategies in action if you are unsure of what they look like.
Writing:
We are finishing our persuasive papers for "Who Would Win: Killer Whale vs. Great White Shark". We will focus on making complete sentences, and changing the beginnings of sentences to create sentence fluency.
Science/Social Studies:
A few awesome things are happening this week! First, Zoo Montana will be here Tuesday to help us research our Inquiry Question (See above). Secondly, we will begin our first activity of Project Lead The Way this week! There has been a lot of press regarding this innovative new program, and now that my training is complete, we can dive in!
