Oct. 31: Halloween Learning Celebration 1:30-2:00.
Nov. 5-7: Noon dismissal for Parent Teacher Conferences. I can't wait to chat with you about your child!

Reading:
Theme Question: How is science a part of our community?
Focus Question: How do people in our community use tools and technology?
Inquiry Question: How are communities planned, and what do they need?
*For inquiry, the kids have narrowed down "must-haves" for a successful community. Then they planned their community using post-it notes to represent buildings and connected them with roads. This week, students will create a model of their community and share their reasoning with their classmates. It has been so much fun to watch them work in groups and learn how to compromise and share responsibilities.
Skills: Using context clues to determine the meaning of an unknown word, citing text evidence, main idea and details.
Writing:
Revisions: adding transitional words (first, next, then, last, also, for example, additionally...etc.)
Math:
Reviewing and assessing place value: skip counting by 5's and 10's starting at any number 1-900. Understanding place value. Representing numbers in standard form, picture form, and expanded form.
Extra:
It may be school, and the focus is ALWAYS learning, but we can have some fun too, right? We will be holding a "learning celebration" from 1:30-2 on Friday. Kids will rotate through 4 centers: cookie decorating, shape pumpkin graphing, Halloween Bingo, and a Halloween craft. You are welcome to come join in the fun if you are able!
