As part of our review week that LEAD 21 offers every two units, we took some time to work on building fluency. Fluency has three parts: speed, accuracy, and expression.
Speed: a fast reader is not necessarily a good reader. Good reader's change their speed, and are not too fast or too slow.
Accuracy: Good readers make sense. They go back and fix up mistakes. They use strategies to decode unknown words.
Expression: Good readers read like they speak. They read punctuation, and don't sound like robots.
To show off our fluency, please enjoy these short Reader's Theater presentations!
