Important Dates:
Nov. 4: Report Cards sent home
Nov. 5,6,7: Noon dismissal for Parent Teacher Conferences
*I am really looking forward to chatting with you about your child's strengths and challenges in the classroom, and to share with you their progress!
This Week's Objectives:
Reading:
Theme Question: How is science a part of our community?
Focus Question: How is nature a part of our community?
Skills/Strategies: Summarize, Using a dictionary, main idea/details
Spelling: See list to the right
Writing:
We are finishing our informational pieces about spiders (did you know spiders have blue blood?) through publishing and sharing. Our next focus will be opinion pieces. We are really working on using a topic sentence, three supporting details, and a conclusion. This is the basis for most writing.
Math:
We will continue to review place value, but the kids have a pretty solid grasp on it for the most part, so we will be moving on to addition and subtraction strategies. I cannot stress how important these are - truly the basis for most math! We will start with doubles for this short week.
