Skills: Retelling and sequencing a story, homophones, using strategies to decode unknown words, antonyms
Math:
We have a special guest visiting us for math this week! Our district's math coach, Becky Berg, will be teaching lessons on Monday and Tuesday so Miss Kuntz and I can see some fun new lessons and strategies. The kids will have a blast and learn some great new ways to solve double digit addition and subtraction facts. We will be focusing on the open number line and branching strategies this week. Please visit Becky's page for more info!
Writing:
1. Animal Research - kids will be finishing up their research and writing their reports to complete our inquiry project.
2. When I am 100 - kids will think about their past and the future, and write about what they think they will be like when they are 100 years old in honor of the 100th day of school
(can you believe it?).
Science:
We have started Project Lead the Way! We are starting with Properties of Matter. Last week we learned about engineers, and were presented with a problem. This week we will learn more about the engineering process and will take steps to solve the problem of how to keep ice pops frozen for an hour. What a fun start to a great new curriculum!
