This Week's Objectives
This Wonders Unit has been so fun - it's all about animals. This week we focus on animal's different habitats. The kids are really into it, and are gleaning a lot of information. Be sure to check out our SeeSaw page to hear their animal reports.
Math:
We are really hitting addition and subtraction right now. I am pretty confident in the kids addition facts, but they tend to need a lot more practice when it comes to subtraction. We are also learning different strategies - like making tens to add, doubles, doubles plus one, and more.
Science:
In addition to learning all about animals and their habitats through our reading series, we are also researching turkeys this week! We will be learning all about these feathered creatures, and will also be taking note of how authors use organization when writing paragraphs, and use scientific language to hook their readers.

Reminders
Homework was sent home on Friday, and is due back this Wednesday. The kids were asked to camouflage their turkeys so they won't be served at Thanksgiving. We are talking about habitats and adaptations this week, so it fits in perfectly! I will leave the room for a bit and allow the kids to hide their turkeys "in plain sight" hoping the camouflage does the trick. Have fun!
It has been a very mild November so far - we've been loving the sunshine and warm weather... but it's about to change. If there is snow on the ground, children need to come with boots and snow pants, or they will have to stay on the black top for recess. Please be sure they have gloves and hats as well. We go out to recess unless it is below zero. If you are unable to provide these items, please let me know as we have lots of resources, and don't want anyone to be without!
