Our first week went well, and I know the weeks to come will only get better! The students have been very helpful in showing (and reminding!) me the ropes and routines of their class. We are REALLY close to earning a celebration for classroom behaviors even though Friday was a little challenging for us all. The sunshine and warm weather seemed to bring out a few extra wiggles in everyone. However, it provided us with some extra practice, and I'm sure by Monday we will be ready to rock and roll again. We will also be honing in on fluency by doing reader's theater presentations for our classmates. In math, we will continue to practice our addition and subtraction facts to 20. We will also be continuing to learn how to collect data, make a pictograph and bar graph, and read and interpret graphs. In writing, we will be revising and editing our persuasive essays with guidance, then practicing their own without my help. We are working on using a topic sentence, three details with supports, and a conclusion. Merry ChristmasThere is nothing better than being surrounded by children during the holidays. From the magic of the first snow to the enthusiastic re-telling of their Elves antics, Christmas is never more alive than through the eyes of children.
