Important Dates:
Tue. April 22: Secretary's Day
Thurs. April 24th: Volunteer Luncheon at Arrowhead
Fri. April 24: Zoo Permission slips due
Tue. April 28: Zoo Field Trip
This Week's Objectives:
Reading:
Theme Question: How can we learn about the Earth?
Focus Question: What can we do to help the Earth?
We will continue our map/globe skills this week, and move into a more in depth study of the seven continents. We will also have a few lessons on conservation for Earth Day.
Skills: Reading informational text, using context clues to determine unknown words, leaving tracks of our thinking.
Spelling: ear, eer, ere words (see list to the right)
Writing:
We are finishing our Imogene's Antlers stories, and will review persuasive writing in an essay about taking care of the Earth. Kids should be focusing on conventions, format, and self-editing.
Math:
We will work on telling time to the half and quarter hour this week. This is more difficult than you might think, due to the positioning of the hour hand, so practice at home is always helpful! We will continue to work on problem solving and triple digit addition/subtraction strategies in math centers.
Social Studies:
Geography, maps/globes, the continents
Science:
Form and Function: Seed dispersal
