Important Dates:
April 7: School Resumes
April 13: PIR Day (no school for students)
April 17: Memories with Mom (7:45 - 8:15 am)
This Week's Objectives:
Reading:
Theme Question: How do living things grow and change?
Focus Question:
Inquiry Question: How do seeds grow into plants, and why do they need air, water, soil, and space?
Week 4 is our review week, which leaves us with some time to do some EGGcelent EGGtivities! I usually do them before spring break, but with our guests observing, I wanted to stick to the curriculum pretty tight. We get a little wiggle room with the review week, so we will be having some fun with oviparous animals this week. It fits perfectly with the second half of unit 6, which is all about animal life cycles.
Skills: Classifying and categorizing, using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words, building vocabulary
Math:
Writing and telling time to the hour and half hour, identifying the parts of a clock, and estimating lengths of time.
*We will continue to practice double and triple digit addition and subtraction in small groups*
Writing:
Kids are working through the writing process to finish their "Imogene Antlers" rewrites. They are focusing on editing their own work, and checking for all the structures of fiction: beginning, middle, end, problem, and solution.
Science:
Oviparous animals, and animal life cycles.
